On Saturday, 3rd Jan 2026, IIT Roorkee alumni celebrated their global meet at Darbar Hall, hotel Taj Palace, New Delhi, India with overwhelming alumni presence. It was a summit with the main theme on “Reinventing in the age of AI” and others. Five startups were selected for the cash award.
In 2005, the first alumni global meet of this level was organized by the initiative of Sri Subodh & Sri Kamendra, who remained the President, Roorkee University Students’ Association RUSA.
IIT Roorkee alumni are known for their eternal bonding with a legacy of 178 years. The prominent alumni who attended the meet were the Secretary Power, Secretary, NDMA, Chairman TRAI, CMD CONCOR, CMD IRCON, CMD Balmer Lawrie, DG, NCCBM, IG DP, ex DG, DRDO, and their distinguished scientists, Chairman, Showa Munjal (Life time award), oldest alumnus Er Prem Vrat, Er Cav. Surendra, Sri JP Shukla and many more graced the occasion.
The present President of alumni association has also remained the Chairman and the CEO of the Railway board. The hon Secretary CGM, EIL, VP Intl Er Anil Sherawat, Er Abhay made up a good team.
The platinum sponsor of the event was Vision IAS, whose founder Er Ajay Singh is an esteemed alumnus. The Chief Guest of the event was the Director, IIT Roorkee Prof K K Pant, an eminent academician.
IIT Roorkee located in India, is one of the oldest (Over 178 years old) Engineering and Technology institution of Asia and ranks among Top 10 on all measuring indexes. Thousands of graduates of IIT Roorkee are serving throughout the world including America as engineers, technologists, researchers, scientists, executives, business owners and leaders on various sectors.
In the US/Canada, IIT Roorkee Alumni Association of North America (IITRAANA) serves all alumni of Roorkee College, Thomason College of Engineering, Roorkee; University of Roorkee and IIT Roorkee residing in Canada and United States. US East Coast Chapter of IITRAANA is one of the largest groups in America. They also organize their annual meet here at East Coast every year in June time frame.
