Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan posted a cryptic message on his blog Thursday, amid concerns over long time friend and co-star Dharmendra’s health. The message read, “Reconcile…and reconcile with what…. when the reconciliation breeds none… Each day a moment of adversity… and the strength needed to cope and survive.” The post came a day after a viral video showed Bachchan driving his BMW through Mumbai’s Juhu area, sparking speculation that he visited Dharmendra after the latter’s hospital discharge.
Dharmendra, one of Bollywood’s most celebrated matinee idols known for iconic films like Sholay, Chupke Chupke, and Ram Balram, was discharged from Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on Wednesday afternoon. The 89-year-old actor had been receiving treatment since October 31 and will continue recuperating at home, according to Dr. Pratit Samdani of Breach Candy Hospital.
Dharmendra’s family released a statement requesting privacy and appreciation for the public’s prayers during his recovery. They expressed gratitude for the love and well-wishes, asking media and fans to respect their privacy at this time.
The two legendary actors, Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra, have shared a deep friendship and cinematic partnership that has left an indelible mark on Indian cinema. Bachchan’s understated visit, captured by paparazzi, ended weeks of speculation about his absence during Dharmendra’s hospital stay. The heartfelt concern and support reaffirm their iconic off-screen bond, reminiscent of their on-screen camaraderie as Jai and Veeru in Sholay.
Dharmendra is currently resting comfortably at home and is slated to appear in the upcoming film Ikkis, set for a December 25 release.
