Stampede at actor Vijay’s rally in Tamil Nadu leaves many dead

Ma Subramanian, the Health Minister of Tamil Nadu, this Saturday, on September 27th, has reported that a stampede broke out at a rally of one of the most popular Indian actors and newly turned politician, Vijay. The stampede took away lives of at least 36 individuals and had around 40 people injured.

Mr Subramanian informed that the victims of the stampede were already dead by the time they were taken to a hospital. He however, confirmed that those who were injured were all now in a stable condition. What was really tragic was that out of the 36 innocent lives that were lost 8 of them were children. Subramanian has ordered a proper investigation on the stampede saying, “There was indiscipline at the rally.”

Movie superstar Vijay was addressing a rally in the Karur district of Tamil Nadu as per the reports was attended by tens of thousands of people. It was reported that while Vijay was talking to the crowd, several of his supporters and fans fell while trying to get close to his bus and thus caused the stampede. It was highlighted that Vijay was reportedly late to the rally and the fans were waiting for their favourite star to show up in the extremely hot weather.

It was reported that Vijay had halted his speech when his workers raised an alarm noticing that people were fainting and falling. However, the actor continued his speech once he saw that they were being taken to the hospital. He ended his speech shortly once he sensed the abnormal situation in a section of the huge gathering

Hours after the accident, Vijay offered his condolences on his official X account, “My heart is shattered. I am writhing in unbearable, indescribable pain and sorrow that words cannot express.”
