India on the back of exceptional performances from opener Abhishek Sharma and their premier spinner Kuldeep Yadav have secured their place in the finals of the Asia Cup 2025. India defeated Bangladesh by 41 runs in their Super Fours clash on September 24th. Abhishek Sharma was awarded the Man of the Match award for his stellar knock of 75 runs off 37 balls that saw him smashing 6 fours and 5 sixes.
India put up a mediocre batting performance against Bangladesh as other than Abhishek no one really stood up. There were some good contributions from Shubman Gill (29 runs off 19 balls) at the top and Hardik Pandya (38 runs off 29 balls) in the lower order which helped India put up a below par total of 168 for the loss of 6 wickets.
A huge talking point of the innings was the way India toyed with their batting order as out of nowhere Shivam Dube walked out to bat at number 3. Not only that but despite losing 6 wickets Sanju Samson didn’t get a chance to bat which showed everyone watching the match.
When Bangladesh walked out to bat their opener Saif Hassan looked in tremendous touch but other than him no one really stuck his hand up and helped him build the innings. Hassan scored 69 runs off 51 runs and was dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah in the latter end of the innings. Bumrah finished the match with 2 wickets to his name, getting both their openers out, and gave away just 18 runs in his 4 overs.
Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers for India, he took 3 wickets for 18 runs in 4 overs. Yadav ended up being too much for the Bangladeshi team to decode. Supporting him were both Indian spinners – Varun Chakravarthy (2/29 in 4 overs) and Axar Patel (1/37 in 4 overs) who took away key wickets in the match.
