The third installment of the hit franchise Jolly LLB is set to hit the theatres this Friday, in just two days on September 19th. The movie will be bringing together the stars of the first two instalments, Arshad Warsi and Akshay Kumar.
The advance bookings of the movie began this Tuesday, on September 16th but the numbers that have come out as of now do not look promising. As per the data, the movie has sold tickets worth around Rs 1.04 crore on the first day of advance bookings. The film has been allotted 4,231 shows across the country and adding the block bookings numbers, the total stands at Rs 2.58 crore, as per reports
However, despite the low numbers trade experts have stated that they have high hopes from the movie. They stated that they are highly impressed by the trailer of the movie and lauded the chemistry of the two male leads Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi.
When the trade experts Komal Nahta and Taran Adarsh were asked their opinions on the “not-so-great” advance bookings numbers, both of them believed that the numbers are subject to change.
“The trailer looks promising. It sets the tone. It’s not an issue that advance bookings are not great. People might just walk into the theatre if the film is good,” said Komal Nahata.
Taran Adarsh stated a similar thing and said, “Numbers can always change. It’s a very popular franchise. Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi are coming together for the first time. That’s a big bonus for the film.”
The previous two installments of the franchise have performed well at the box office. The first movie starring Warsi alongside Boman Irani, Amrita Rao, and Saurabh Shukla in key roles was a sleeper hit earning Rs 48.7 crore at the box office while made on a budget of Rs 10 crore.
The second movie, Jolly LLB 2 that saw Akshay Kuma enter the franchise and thus the budget of the movie went up to 80 Cr and there was a lot riding on it. The film earned more than Rs 200 crore at the box office upon its release in 2017.
