One of the well known Bollywood singers, Monali Thakur’s name has been coming up recently in the string of rumours on the internet revolving around her divorce from Swiss restaurateur Maik Richter. Thakur, with her recent Instagram story has added fuel to the fire leading many to believe that the rumours circulating might have some weight in it. However, the singer has not addressed the whole situation neither denying nor confirming the rumours.
On Monday, September 8th, Monali shared a distressing footage from one of her songs ‘Ek Baar Phir’ on her story and wrote below the clip – “The Reason”. The clip which she shared showcased disturbing visuals involving emotional and physical abuse along with moments of strangulation.
Although Monali has not clarified the connection between her distressing story and the divorce rumours, the internet seems to interpret that her story was a response to the rumours circulating about her marriage.
A source close to Monali and Maik has stated that in the past few years a lot has changed between the couple as no one really talks about them. He also talked about the social media cut-off of the couple and stated that Monali will come out and speak on the topic when she feels it is the right time.
The source revealed, “A lot has changed in these years between them; no one talks about them as a couple any more. Long-distance marriages usually do face such endings.”
He added, “Yes, social media cut-off surely is a red flag. Maybe she’s waiting for the right time to come forward and speak on it, and it’s also right that way.”
As per some reports, Monali and Maik married in a private ceremony 8 years back in 2017. Then 3 years after that in 2020 Monali revealed the news in an interview after keeping it away from the spotlight for a long time.
