The Asia Cup 2025 is just a few days away and cricket fans are super excited to see their favourite teams battle it out to find out who’s the best team in the continent. One match that everyone is looking forward to is the clash between arch rivals India and Pakistan, who will be facing each other for the first time since their political ties have taken a nose dive after the Pahalgam attack.
Legendary Pakistani pacer, Wasim Akram had given his views on the coming tournament and has stated that he believes India will start as the favourites in their match against Pakistan. He noted that it will be a highly charged affair and it will be interesting to see which team handles the pressure well and emerges victorious.
The former captain of Pakistan talked about how the game is going to be action packed like all other Indo-Pak matches and will be entertaining for the audience. But Akram has urged fans to be disciplined and don’t cross the line just to support their team.
“I am sure these matches will be entertaining, just like all other Ind-Pak matches. But I hope both the players and the fans will remain disciplined and not cross the line. If Indians are patriotic and want their team to win, the same goes for Pakistani fans. India have been in better form recently and will start as favourites, but the team that handles pressure best on the day will win,” he said.
Akram also stated that he wishes the two nations resume cricket not just in multinational tournaments but also in bilateral series and soon play a Test series against each other as it would be a historic affair for all the cricket lovers.
“This Asia Cup will be a feast for fans worldwide. It’s my wish that India and Pakistan also resume playing a Test series. It’s been too long, and it would be a historic spectacle for fans on both sides,” he added.
