New York University’s Tandon School of Engineering has honored Indian American Associate Professor Rakesh Behera (Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering – MAE) with Dean’s Award for Excellence in Online Education.
Rakesh Behera received the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Online Education, given to instructors who have demonstrated excellence through personal commitment to students and the development and delivery of innovative online education material. Rakesh’s students have high praise for his accessibility and patience, as well as his use of active-learning techniques and real-life examples, even in online deliberation.
Behera has completed his PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, 2009 from University of Florida. Other education includes: Master of Science, Materials Science and Engineering, 2008, University of Florida; Master of Science, Mechanical Engineering, 2004, Louisiana State University and Bachelor of Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, 2000, National Institute of Technology (Formerly Regional Engineering College).
Behera’s professional experience includes working in New York University, Tandon School of Engineering as Industry Associate Professor (2021-present) and Industry Assistant Professor (2016-2021). Prior to that Behera worked in Georgia Institute of Technology as Research Scientist (2016-2016) and as Post-Doctoral Fellow (2010-2015). Before that he worked in University of Florida as Research Assistant (2004-2010) and at Louisiana State University as Research Assistant (2002-2004) & Teaching Assistant (2002-2004).
