‘Lagaan’ is one of the most iconic films in the history of Indian cinema along with that it is also one of the most iconic movies in Aamir Khan’s movie career. Recently, Aamir was asked about who he thinks from the current lot of movie stars could play the role of Bhuvan and the answer given by the superstar may surprise many.
Aamir Khan is set to join the Indian soldiers at the border in Akhnoor, Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion of Independence Day on August 15th. While at an event, one of the soldiers asked the Bollywood star who he thinks could play his role of Bhuvan if the 2001 Oscar-nominated film, directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, were to be remade today.
At first Aamir had a quirky reply, telling the soldier, “Why will I let anyone else do it? I’ll do it.”
After having a bit of fun, Aamir said that he thinks Vicky Kaushal can play the role of Bhuvan. He stated that there are 2 or 3 qualities that he would look for in an actor who can play Bhuvan- one is being clean at heart and the other is a lot of inner strength which Vicky perfectly fits in.
The actor-filmmaker said, “I know the answer to this question. This is my choice that I’m sharing with you. I would have chosen Vicky Kaushal to play the role of Bhuvan… The character of Bhuvan, he has two-three qualities. He is very clean at heart and you feel the same when you look at Vicky. Dil ka sahi banda hai. Secondly, he (Bhuvan) has a lot of inner strength, he is like a mountain, pahaad ki chattaan. There’s also a certain dignity, seriousness to him, he is also chulbula — Vicky has all these qualities.”
