The diplomatic ties between India and the United States have taken a massive blow ever since the announcement of heavy tariffs on India by the President of US Donald Trump. Amidst the ongoing chaos, the Defence Minister of India, Rajnath Singh took a slight jab at Trump stating those who think they are “the boss” in the world are envious of “India’s homegrown strength”.
This Sunday, on August 10th, Rajnath Singh was attending the foundation ceremony of the Rs 1,800-crore BEML Rail Hub for Manufacturing in Madhya Pradesh’s Raisen. Singh stated that some people are not able to handle the progress that the country’s showing. He has pointed out that powers are looking to hike up charges of the Made-in-India products that are exported to other countries so that they are more expensive but he has ensured that this won’t stop the country’s growth.
“Some people are unable to accept India’s progress. They are not taking it well. ‘Sabke boss toh hum hain (I am everyone’s boss), how is India progressing so fast?’ Efforts are now on to make Made-in-India products more expensive when they are exported to other countries. But the pace at which India is progressing, I can assure you, no global power can stop us from becoming a superpower,” Rajnath Singh said at the event.
The Defence Minister also highlighted how those who doubted India’s ability to handle its enemies were shunned by the might that the country showed through Operation Sindoor. The operation showcased that India can show their enemies their true place when needed. He emphasized, “We don’t provoke anyone, but those who provoke us will not be spared.”
The India-US relations were impacted heavily when the US decided to impose over 50% tariffs on India for buying Russian oil. This move by the US President was termed by the Indian government as completely “unfair and unreasonable.”
