The movie Abir Gulaal, starring Pakistani actor Fawad Khan and Indian actor Vaani Kapoor has decided to skip its release in India and will now hit the big screens overseas on August 29th. It is being reported that the film will be released in 75 countries across the world later this month.
The movie’s release in India was stalled for a long while after the whole conflict between India and Pakistan after the terror attack on Baisaran valley of Pahalgam on April 22nd in which 26 innocent lives were lost. The movie was announced months ago and was set to release on May 9th but after the whole debacle it was pretty certain the movie would not be permitted to enter the big screens in India.
A source close to the film has stated that the movie will be released worldwide in 75 countries including the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada and many more. “Abir Gulaal will be released on August 29 worldwide except India. It is being released in 75 countries including the UK, UAE, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand,” the source said.
Recently, the movie starring Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh, Sardaar Ji 3 suffered the same fate as it was banned from release in India over the casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. The film was then released overseas worldwide on June 27th after a heap of controversy.
Diljit Dosanjh, who is very popular among the masses, faced serious backlash for his movie venture. The star singer however defended the movie’s overseas releases stating that the producers of the film were already facing heavy losses due to the ban on Pakistani artists in India and in such a scenario, they had no option but to release the movie overseas.
