The US East Coast group of the IIT Roorkee Alumni Association of North America (IITRAANA) proudly hosted its fourth annual alumni gathering, bringing together over 85 alumni, faculty, friends, and family to celebrate shared history, forge new connections, and honor the enduring spirit of IIT Roorkee.
Held at King Palace in Edison, the event spanned generations of alumni—from the 1960 batch to the 2020 batch—who traveled from across the East Coast (Rochester, NY to Virginia), and even from India. The evening commenced with the traditional “Kulgeet”, the anthem of IIT Roorkee, setting a nostalgic and unifying tone.
An Evening of Celebration and Community
Attendees enjoyed a vibrant program that included:
- Recognitions of distinguished alumni
- Live entertainment, music, performances and dance
- Sumptuous food
- A tribute to mentors and milestones of IIT Roorkee’s 175+ year legacy
Among those honored were the oldest alum present (Batch of 1960) and the youngest woman alum (Batch of 2020).
Engineer Shajan (Class of 1996) remarked, “It was truly a pleasure to reconnect with so many fellow alumni and their families. The MCs kept the event lively, and the food and drinks were absolutely top-notch. We should consider hosting such gatherings more than once a year—perhaps during the holidays.”
One of the organizing volunteer team member, Charan Singh, added, “This gathering reminds us that while years may pass, the sense of community we built here is timeless. We’re thrilled to see so many familiar faces and excited to grow this network for future generations.”
