The Pataudi trophy which is now rebranded as the Anderson Tendulkar Trophy has started from Friday, 20th June. The series is being looked at as India’s step into the new age as Shubman Gill leads a young team touring England. Indian legend, Sachin Tendulkar has given his shocking prediction for the series and has picked India to win 3-1.
Tendulkar’s prediction showed one thing for sure that he is confident about this young Indian team led by Gill. The last time India ever won a test series in England was back in 2007 when Rahul Dravid was the captain of the Indian side. So, when the Master Blaster predicted that this young side is going to beat England at their home and clinch the series win after 18 years.
Tendulkar also talked about the Indian bowling attack which will be spearheaded by Jasprit Bumrah and will depend a lot upon his performance and the support he gets from the others. He stated that he thinks this young bowling attack is balanced and will have Bumrah and Jadeja to provide the experience.
“I think the bowling attack, a lot will depend on Bumrah and how the other guys support him. Bumrah, without any doubt, is going to be our strike bowler. Along with that, how the rest of the guys that I have experienced, Prasidh has been in good form. Arshdeep Singh, Shardul Thakur, and Nitesh Reddy would be the supporting bowlers. I feel the attack is a balanced attack. I am hopeful that we will do something nice,” Tendulkar said.
This time India is going out with a young batting unit with KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant as the most experienced campaigners of the red-ball format. With Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retired the team is looking at young batters to step up and take the reins of the Indian batting line-up. The reports suggest that the newly anointed captain Shubman Gill will be taking the no. 4 spot which previously belonged to the likes of Kohli and Tendulkar.
