Indian Players take a moment of silence for the Ahmedabad crash victims

The Air plane crash in Ahmedabad on 12th June has shaken India to the core as every citizen in the country mourns their death. The Board of Control for Cricket in India showed its condolences as they announced that in the Intra-squad match between India and India A all the players and support staff are going to wear black armbands.

The BCCI took to their official social media accounts and posted pictures of the both India and India A team players and support staff members who were all sporting black armbands. They expressed their heartfelt condolences and solidarity with those who lost their lives in the freak accident and their families who are still dealing with the shock.

“The players and members of support staff involved in the intra-squad game in Beckenham are wearing black armbands. A minute’s silence was also observed today to pay homage to the victims of the Ahmedabad plane crash, as a mark of respect for the lives lost and solidarity with the affected families.”

On Thursday, June 12th, 241 people that boarded Air India’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner, bound for London Gatwick, lost their lives to an unfortunate accident. The airplane crashed moments after taking off from Ahmedabad. Out of the 242 people that were in the plane only one of them was found alive.

Meanwhile as the Indian squad plays an intra-squad match, there were reports that stated the Head Coach of India, Gautam Gambhir has traveled back to India due to a family emergency to attend to her mother. His mother was recently admitted to a hospital in New Delhi owing to health complications. Ryan ten Doeschate will be handling the team in a four-day intra-squad match.

India is going to face England in a 5-match Test series that is going to start on 20th June. This will be Shubman Gill’s first assignment as the captain as India kick start the new World Test Championship Cycle. This is a very important series for the young captain who is looking to put forth a strong statement with this series.
