India’s pickleball players have made the nation proud with a series of impressive victories at the 2025 World Pickleball Championship Korea, held from June 5-8 at the Seogwipo Tennis Center in Jeju-do. The event, a prestigious Tier 3 tournament organized by Pickleball Global, drew over 230 elite athletes from across Asia, including competitors from Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, Hong Kong, China, the Philippines, and Singapore.
Top Performances by Indian Athletes
Kuldip Mahajan emerged as the standout star of the competition, clinching two gold medals. He triumphed in the Men’s Doubles 19+ category alongside Ryan Iam from Hong Kong and secured another gold in the Mixed Doubles 19+ category with partner Vrushali Thakare. Mahajan’s double victory highlights India’s growing prowess in international pickleball.
India’s medal tally continued to rise with Sonu Kumar Vishwakarma earning a silver medal in the Men’s Singles 19+ category. Vrushali Thakare further bolstered India’s achievements, adding a silver medal in the Women’s Doubles 19+ category alongside Angie Bong from Indonesia. These results underscore the depth and versatility of India’s pickleball talent.
AIPA’s Commitment and Future Vision
Arvind Prabhoo, President of the All India Pickleball Association (AIPA), lauded the athletes’ performances, stating, “It is truly heartening to witness our athletes rise to the occasion and deliver such world-class performances on an international stage. These victories are not just medals—they are milestones in India’s growing stature in the global pickleball community.”
Prabhoo emphasized AIPA’s dedication to nurturing talent and building a robust ecosystem to sustain India’s competitive edge. “We are proud of our champions who continue to put Indian pickleball on the world map with grit, grace, and excellence,” he added.
