On Sunday, 8th June, the Ministry of Defence announced that the Defence Research and Development Organisation has decided to transfer the technologies of nine advanced defence systems. They have decided to transfer them to around 10 private and public partners of the ministry.
Although the announcements were made on 8th, the licensing agreements were signed a day prior to that. They were formally transferred to all the partners at the event that was held at the Vehicles Research and Development Establishment in Ahilyanagar of Maharashtra.
The Chairman of DRDO, Dr. Samir V. Kamat was also seen at the event. The ceremony was also graced by the Distinguished Scientist and Director General, Prateek Kishore and Director VRDE, G. Ramamohana Rao. There were other industry representatives and senior scientists present at the event.
Dr. Kamat spoke at the event, complementing the contributions of DRDO and its industry partners in the success of Operation Sindoor. He had also encouraged the industry to devise a plan to increase their capacity to provide for future operations when needed.
According to the official reports, a full trailer of the 70-tonne tank transporter for Main Battle Tank (MBT) Arjun Mk-1A has been sent to four partner companies, including BEML Limited. The transfer of the Mounted Gun System was done to the private sector company Bharat Forge Limited. An Anti-Terrorist Vehicle (Tracked Version) was transferred to Metaltech Motor Bodies Private Limited.
The Public sector of Defence, PSU Bharat Electronics Limited received the Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear (CBRN) Recce Vehicle (Tracked) Mk-II. The Bharat Electronics Limited received the Expandable Mobile Shelter whereas Vajra-Riot Control Vehicle was transferred to Tata Advanced Systems Limited.
