The Punjab Kings defeated Mumbai Indians in the second Qualifier on 1st June and reached the finals after 11 years for the second time in the franchise history. A tweet by Bollywood superstar Salman Khan from back in 2014 when the Kings last reached the finals of the Indian Premier League has gone viral and the internet is buzzing with it.
Salman Khan’s tweet about Preity Zinta’s team winning has got the internet beaming. The Bollywood actor back in 2014 on May 28th tweeted, “Zinta’s team won kya? (Did Preity Zinta’s team win?)” The tweet has resurfaced again as “Zinta’s team” actually won and reached the finals of IPL 2025.
Netizens were reminiscing about the old tweet and were pretty enthusiastic about their favourite star’s tweet. This post by Salman always resurfaces whenever PBKS wins a match. The fans are hoping that finally the team is going to break the shackles and win the cup this year ending the 18-year drought and then they use this tweet.
Preity Zinta who is the co-owner of the team has been one of the constant supporters of them since the first season and can always be seen in the stands cheering for the win. PBKS however has not had the success in their past seasons and along with Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals remain the only team that has played all the seasons and never won the trophy. This year they will look to break the curse and lift the trophy finally.
Shreyas Iyer has led the side from the front throughout the tournament and his success can be seen with numbers as Punjab ended the season topping the table and sitting comfortably at the top. The captain himself had a stellar season with a 600-plus run season while batting predominantly at numbers 3 and 4. His match-winning performance in the Qualifier 2 against MI was one for the ages as he carried PBKS on his back to the finals. The fans would be expecting one more performance from their captain as they will look to finish the season in style.
