The Indian Government has devised a great plan to carry out a major outreach exercise and convey India’s sentiments to the world. The government has decided to name Shashi Tharoor and 6 other Members of the Parliament from different parties to lead an all party delegation to the world. The delegation will carry India’s strong message of zero tolerance against any form of terrorism.
Shashi Tharoor, a member of the Congress party, was chosen as the leader of this delegation considering his former diplomat status. Tharoor has recently been facing some side eyes from the top officials of his party as he was singing praises of the ruling government after their successful Operation Sindoor.
Tharoor has come out and accepted the government’s offer and has stated that he feels honored that he has been given the opportunity to lead the delegation. He has openly stated that he is fully in support of the actions taken by the Indian government during the current conflicts with Pakistan. When talking about leading the delegation he took to his social media and wrote, “When national interest is involved, and my services are required, I will not be found wanting.”
The government has chosen several other opposition members including Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’s (DMK) MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi and Nationalist Congress Party’s (Sharad Pawar faction) leader Supriya Sule. In addition to that they chose leaders from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) – BJP’s Ravi Shankar Prasad and Baijayant Panda, and Janata Dal United’s Sanjay Kumar Jha and Shiv Sena’s Shrikant Shinde.
Addressing the initiative by the government, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said, “In moments that matter most, Bharat stands united. Seven All-Party Delegations will soon visit key partner nations, carrying our shared message of zero-tolerance to terrorism. A powerful reflection of national unity above politics, beyond differences.”
Other than the already named leaders there are reports of several leaders who are expected to be part of the delegations. BJP leaders Nishikant Dubey, Bansuri Swaraj, Anurag Thakur, MJ Akbar, Samik Bhattacharya, Daggubati Purandeswari and SS Ahluwalia, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi, Congress leaders Salman Khurshid and Manish Tewari, Democratic Progressive Azad Party’s Ghulam Nabi Azad, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi, Biju Janata Dal’s Sasmit Patra and Aam Aadmi Party’s Vikramjeet Sawhney along with a few others.
