The tensions between India and Pakistan have started to de-escalate a bit after the announcement of the agreement to ceasefire by both nations. The announcement was made on 10th May after the DGMO of Pakistan contacted India proposing the ceasefire. Since the announcements, tensions have eased out a bit but India is not letting loose on its defence and security.

The Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), V. Narayanan, on Sunday informed that 10 Indian satellites are put into action and are working tirelessly to ensure safety and security. These satellites are being used for strategic purposes so that any attack on the nation can be intercepted and the citizens are secured.

While Dr. Narayanan was addressing the 5th convocation ceremony of Central Agriculture University (CAU) at Agartala, he stated that if India wants to ensure the nation’s security then we will have to serve through our satellites. He also emphasized on the fact that India has 7000 km of coastal areas that need constant monitoring and that can’t be achieved without the help of satellites and drones.

ISRO is all set to launch another surveillance satellite that will boost the nation’s surveillance prowess along its borders which will be a boon in these dire times when cross-border tensions are at their peak. India will be launching the EOS-09 (RISAT-1B) which is a radar imaging satellite and it will be in the sun-synchronous orbit on May 18th, 2025.

Dr. Narayanan has always been of the view that satellites are the key not only for the country’s development but also for the common man’s development. As of today, ISRO has launched a total of 127 Indian satellites, including those from private operators as well as academic institutions. For security and defence purposes, India also has more than a dozen surveillance and spy satellites including Cartosat, RISAT series, EMISAT and MicroSAT series. The ISRO chief has also stated that they believe before India celebrates its 100 years of independence they will be leading in every sector and would be one of the leading global contributors.
