Singapore Airlines (SQ), renowned globally for its exceptional service, is set to launch revamped Indian cuisine menus for its premium cabin passengers on flights between India and Singapore starting May 1. This culinary upgrade underscores the airline’s strategic focus on the Indian market and aims to enhance the travel experience for discerning flyers.
The airline introduces two distinct menu offerings: the Shahi Thali and the Ruchi Thali. The Shahi Thali, designed for suites and first-class passengers, will be served exclusively on flights connecting Singapore with Delhi and Mumbai-two of the airline’s most significant Indian routes. Meanwhile, the Ruchi Thali will be available to business class travelers on all India-Singapore flights, broadening the elevated dining experience to a wider premium audience.
Singapore Airlines collaborated with internationally acclaimed chef Sanjeev Kapoor, a celebrated name in Indian cuisine, to craft these menus. The partnership ensures authentic flavors prepared with premium ingredients, reflecting the rich culinary heritage of India while meeting the high standards expected in luxury air travel.
This menu enhancement aligns with Singapore Airlines’ extensive presence in India, where it operates 92 weekly flights to eight major cities, including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, and Mumbai. The airline’s robust network and customized offerings demonstrate its commitment to the Indian market and its growing premium travel segment.
As competition intensifies in the India-Singapore air corridor, Singapore Airlines aims to differentiate itself by focusing on culturally relevant and high-quality dining experiences. The timing of this launch coincides with the post-pandemic resurgence of international business and luxury travel, as premium cabin occupancy steadily returns to pre-pandemic levels.
Industry experts view this initiative as a key part of Singapore Airlines’ broader strategy to reinforce its reputation for superior in-flight experiences. By continuously innovating its food and beverage services, the airline maintains its leadership in the competitive Asian aviation landscape.
