On Thursday, April 3, 2025, the GOPIO Central Jersey (GOPIO-CJ) Chapter hosted its New Executive Board Induction Ceremony and Networking Event at Jhopri Restaurant in Plainsboro, New Jersey. Amongst the attendees were GOPIO lifetime members, guests, and local business entrepreneurs. The Guest of Honor for the evening was Hemant Marathe, Mayor of West Windsor Township.
The event commenced with the recital of the American National Anthem by Sia Dixit, followed by the Indian National Anthem sung by all attendees. Sapna Mehta welcomed everyone, and a display of brief video highlighting GOPIO’s history. Sudha Kankanala then delivered a presentation on the activities organized by GOPIO-CJ over the past four years.

Outgoing President Kunal Mehta extended his sincere appreciation to all members for their support over the last four years, particularly during the challenging pandemic years. He highlighted the accomplishments achieved during his tenure. Incoming President Nishith Mehta shared his vision for the next two years, pledging to elevate GOPIO-CJ’s initiatives to better serve the Indian diaspora, especially new immigrants who may lack knowledge of the local system and traditions. The new Executive Team was introduced by the President Nishith Mehta which included Vijay Garg – Executive Vice-President, Suresh Reddy – Vice-President, Sapna Mehta – Secretary, Satish Vambukar – Public Relations and Dr. Tushar Patel – Senior Advisor.

West Windsor Township Mayor Hemant Marathe congratulated the new executive team and expressed gratitude for GOPIO-CJ’s continued commitment to serve the Indian community. He also extended his full support to the organization. Senior Advisor Dr. Tushar Patel introduced new lifetime members of GOPIO-CJ, recognized with a lapel pin presented by Mayor Marathe.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Secretary Sapna Mehta, followed by dinner and networking. Attendees enjoyed delicious appetizers and dinner provided by Jhopri Restaurant.
Founded in 2008, the GOPIO Central Jersey (CJ) Chapter is a non-partisan, secular, civic, and community service organization. GOPIO-CJ provides a platform to foster fellowship, enhance networking, and promote awareness of Indian culture, customs, and the contributions of People of Indian Origin (PIOs) through community programs, forums, events, and youth activities. The organization seeks to strengthen partnerships and create an ongoing dialogue with local communities.
