With effect from April 1, 2025, Hindu University of America is happy to introduce Dr. Mahadevan Seetharaman as the next Dean of the California College of Ayurveda (CCA).

One of the forerunners of Ayurvedic education in the West, Dr. Marc Halpern, established the California College of Ayurveda in 1995. CCA, the first state-approved school for Ayurvedic medicine, has grown to be the biggest and most renowned Ayurvedic education center in the US.

The California College of Ayurveda (CCA) became a part of the Hindu University of America (HUA) family in August 2024. The Board of Trustees at HUA has since conducted a careful search for a replacement for Dr. Marc Halpern, who has contributed almost thirty years of inspirational leadership in forming CCA. As a consultant and advisor to the new Dean, CCA, and HUA, Dr. Halpern will remain affiliated with CCA. He will also continue to teach and create the curriculum as a member of the CCA faculty.

With a Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Minnesota (2003), Dr. Mahadevan has a strong interest in Ayurveda. He is in a unique position to take CCA into a new age of growth, innovation, and worldwide influence because of his in-depth understanding of the U.S. integrative health sector and his more than 20 years of executive leadership experience in high-growth companies. In order to preserve CCA’s legacy of excellence and guarantee its ongoing expansion and financial stability, he will provide strategic, academic, and operational leadership in this new position.

Ayurveda Living was founded by Dr. Mahadevan Seetharaman, a Duke Integrative Healthcare Leader. He offers current Ayurvedic health and wellness information, research, news, and reviews in his capacity as a yoga teacher and Ayurvedic diet and nutrition consultant. In addition to co-founding the Texas Ayurveda Professionals Association (TAPAS), Dr. Mahadevan is a member of the boards of the American Association of Ayurvedic Professionals (AAAP), the American Academy of Yoga and Meditation (AAYM), and the Global Council for Ayurveda Research (GCAR).

HUA and CCA community welcome Dr. Seetharaman as he assumes this important role and wish to work together to further CCA’s purpose in the contemporary world and uphold its reputation as a leading center for Ayurvedic practice and teaching.
