An Indian entrepreneur returns home after 10 years in US and describes it as, “Best Decision of My Life.” Aniruddha Anjana, co-founder and CEO of ArcAligned, recently shared his heartfelt journey of returning to India after a decade in the United States. His decision, he revealed on Instagram, was driven not by professional setbacks or visa challenges but by a deeply personal motive—caring for his aging parents. “I wanted to spend time with my parents—who sacrificed so much for me—knowing they would never ask me to return,” he stated in a video post.
Anjana’s story resonates with a growing trend among Indian professionals who are choosing to leave lucrative careers abroad to reconnect with their roots. While many Indians move overseas seeking better opportunities, the separation from family often weighs heavily. For Anjana, the pull of familial bonds outweighed the allure of a corporate lifestyle that had begun to feel monotonous and unfulfilling. “After a year, I can confidently say it was the best decision of my life,” he added, reflecting on how his return has enriched both his and his parents’ lives.
This phenomenon, often termed “reverse brain drain,” is gaining momentum as India’s economy continues to grow. Many professionals and entrepreneurs are drawn back by the promise of exciting opportunities and the chance to contribute to their homeland’s development. For Anjana, however, the decision was less about economics and more about values—a sentiment that struck a chord with social media users who praised his commitment to family.
As India emerges as a global economic power, stories like Anjana’s highlight a shift in priorities among its diaspora. Beyond professional success, many are rediscovering the importance of personal fulfilment and cultural ties back home.
