On December 2, 2024, the esteemed Rising Bharat Conclave took place at the historic House of Commons within the UK Parliament, attracting over 130 distinguished delegates from various corners of the globe. This significant event was organized by the UK-India Business Council (UKABC) in collaboration with Fortygreen Media Group, aiming to celebrate innovation, leadership, and the collaborative spirit between India and the United Kingdom.
The Conclave was attended by a diverse array of prominent figures, including representatives from 14 embassies and high commissions, former Chief Ministers, ex-Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), and influential business leaders from countries such as India, Poland, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates. Among the notable attendees were Stanley Johnson, CEO of Upcycled Plastics Ltd.; John Le Fondré A.C.A., former Chief Minister of Jersey; Andrew Grocock, Chief of Staff to Baroness Arlene Foster; Graham Cook, Country Manager at Air India; Cheryll Rogers, CEO of Fair Break Cricket; Juan Cabrera, a government advisor; and Anthony Samuels, who provides notary services. Their participation underscored the event’s importance as a platform for fostering meaningful dialogue and collaboration between India and the UK.
A particularly noteworthy moment during the Conclave was the receipt of a letter of appreciation from 10 Downing Street. This letter recognized the Conclave’s efforts in strengthening relations between the UK and India, highlighting its significance on a diplomatic level.
The Conclave commenced with an inspiring inaugural address by Sudeep Sakalle, who encouraged attendees to share their success stories and emphasized the strength and unity within the UKABC community. His remarks set a positive tone for collaboration and mutual growth among participants.
One of the most impactful moments came when award recipient Smita Patil, National President of NAREDCO MAHI, delivered a heartfelt speech addressing the Role of Women in Rising Bharat. She expressed gratitude for the Indian government’s ongoing support for women across various sectors and underscored their crucial contributions to nation-building.
Additionally, significant discussions were held regarding the proposed UK-India Free Trade Agreement (FTA). Neil Lal, President of the India Council of Scotland, elaborated on how this agreement could potentially create jobs, enhance exports, and facilitate greater exchange of services and technology between the two nations.
