Megastar Amitabh Bachchan and actor Prabhas-starrer ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ saw a bumper opening in all languages on its opening day. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the post-apocalyptic film is inspired by Hindu scriptures and set in the year 2898 AD. Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani are also part of the film.
Before the release of the film on June 27, the makers organised a grand event in Mumbai. Kamal Haasan attended the pre-release event of the film, where he spoke about his character and how he reacted when director Nag Ashwin came to him with the idea behind his project.
Talking about Nag Ashwin, the actor said that he is a man of few words but has a great idea and he knows how to present it. “I don’t underestimate these ordinary-looking guys. They have a depth to them that does not show unless you talk to them. Great ideas translate better when you present them in the right way and Nagi knew how to do it.”
He added, ” I always wanted to play a bad man because the bad man gets to do all the good things and have fun. Where the heroes are singing romantic songs and waiting for the heroine, he (bad guy) can just go ahead and do what he wants. I thought I was going to play the bad man so it’s going to be fun. But then, he (Ashwin) wanted it to be different. I’m almost like a sage in the film with a bad idea.”
During the event, Big B shared his working experience in the film and how he felt after listening to the script. He also appreciated the director of the film Nag Ashwin for coming up with such a great concept. He said, “Nagi came and explained the idea of Kalki 2898 AD. After he left, I thought, what the hell is Nagi drinking? To think of something like this is absolutely outrageous. Some of the visuals that you have seen just now are unbelievable. To have somebody conceive a project that is so futuristic is amazing.”
“No matter what Nag Ashwin thought of, he actually got all the material and effects to match his vision. It has been an amazing experience working for Kalki 2898AD which I will never forget,” Big B added.

He also revealed that he watched ‘Kalki’ for the first time in theatres since its release. He headed for a late-night show on Sunday.
In the photos, the father-son duo seems to enjoy the movie. “A Sunday of Sundays .. the well wishers at GOJ and then to Kalki with some friends to see on big screen .. seeing film for first time ..Had not been out for years .. but so satisfying to be out to witness all the progress ..” he wrote on his blog. Big B left Abhishek speechless with his performance in the film as is quite evident from Junior Bachchan’s post on X handle.
Megastar Rajinikanth heaped praise on Nag Ashwin’s directorial ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ on Saturday. Not only Rajinikanth but Nagarjuna Akkineni also hailed the film. Nagarjuna also praised Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas’s performances. He stated, “Amith Ji, the original mass hero… Sir, you are on fire. can’t wait to see Kamalji in the sequel… did not get enough of him! Prabhas you did it all over again!! Deepika ji you look so ethereal and convincing as the divine mother!! And the rest of the team. Ashwini Dutt Garu, dear sweety and Swapna, God bless you! Indian cinema has done it again!!”
Actor Varun Dhawan was all praises for ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan, which has opened to positive reviews and has been making brisk business at the box office.
After watching the film, Varun on Monday took to X handle to share his review. He wrote, “Kalki is all that we have ever dreamt for and from Indian Cinema!! Every frame is to Marvel at – what you guys have done is not less than magic and madness. Thank You for giving us this experience in #Kalki2898AD.”
