Two Indian pavilions were inaugurated by DC Manjunath, Consul General of India in Houston, at the 76th NAFSA 2024 Conference & Expo, at the world’s largest international annual education event in New Orleans, Louisiana. The world’s largest international annual education event was held from May 28-31.
Educational exchanges build crucial bridges for mutual understanding, learning and friendships, said DC Manjunath. The Indian delegation of more than 40 major academic institutes, both public and private, shone at the conference and expo. It had one of the largest participation from India, highlighting the potential of Indian education and fostering international and India-US collaboration.
The conference, with a gathering of 10,000 delegates from more than 110 countries, under the theme “Resilience. Renewal. Community”, aimed at fostering resilience in the post-pandemic era, supporting education renewal, and building stronger local and global communities.
The Indian delegations comprised of public and private institutions. During his inaugural address, Manjunath emphasized on India’s robust education system and high-quality research facilities. He pointed out that an increasing number of Indian institutions are expanding their global footprint and highlighted India’s emergence as a prime destination for technologies such as data science and cybersecurity.
A special event titled “India’s Higher Education Partnership & Dialogue” was organized. This event underscored India’s economic growth and educational system development, including new opportunities in universities under India’s new National Education Policy 2020. The dialogue also focused on the facilities Indian universities offer and the empowerment of women in education.
