IIT (BHU) Varanasi in celebration of its century-old legacy, announced with great pride and extended its heartiest congratulations to the awardees of the Distinguished Alumnus/Alumna Awards 2023-2024.

This award is a recognition of being an unwavering source of inspiration for generations to come, who have cemented their grandeur all over the world, adding sheen and luster to the glory of the Institute. In accordance with the same, IIT (BHU) Varanasi has bestowed select Indian Americans with Distinguished Alumnus/Alumna Awards under different categories.

In Academics: Prof. Alok Gupta (MIN ’88), Dean, Research and Administration, Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, USA. His studies and research have resulted in useful applications in the design of online markets and mechanisms of interactions that have an economic purpose. As per him, the future of online commerce and competition will be based on the derivation, construction, and presentation of information and its impact on human behavior.

In Public Life: Dr. Manu K Vora (CHE ‘68), Chairman and President, Business Excellence, Inc., USA. He has over 46 years of leadership experience guiding Fortune 500 companies with the Baldrige Performance Excellence Award framework. He is a past vice president of the American Society for Quality (ASQ) Board of Directors, served as a chairperson for the ASQ Chicago Section, and is an ASQ Fellow

In Industry/Entrepreneurship: Sh. Sudhir Singh (CIV ‘93), CEO and Executive Director, Coforge, New Jersey, USA. Sudhir has experience across Unilever (Hindustan Lever), Infosys, and Genpact to bear on his current role at Coforge. He has 24 years of industry experience with an exceptional track record of execution, driving robust revenue and margin growth simultaneously, executing business turnarounds, and orchestrating successful acquisitions.

For Distinguished Service to the Institute: Sh. Soumyo Sarkar (MEC ‘79), CEO, Sumit Capital, New York, USA. Founded in 2010, Sumit Capital is a New York-based investment advisor. Additionally, he is a Member of the Advisory Council at Fintso, a Fintech platform in India where he focuses on new product development for clients.

For Distinguished Service to the Institute: Sh. Vikash Agrawal (CHE ‘95), Executive Chairman, Levrx, New York, USA. In his role, Vikash is responsible for the strategic direction of the company, where his experience in digital health is essential to the execution of the Levrx mission.
