“The Festival of Tabla” is today the largest gathering of Indian classical musicians on the West Coast and is rapidly becoming a globally recognized landmark for percussive arts as well as the classical traditions of South Asia. The festival’s focus is to provide an unbiased platform to the new and diverse generation of artists giving them a chance to present authentic tabla solos as well as solos in instrumental, vocal, and dance in front of larger receptive audiences and be able to perform on the same stage as the maestros. Such an opportunity is integral and essential to not only uplift the artists but also create a healthy and vibrant sense of community within the realm of South Asian Music and Arts.

The two-day festival was held in Los Angeles. It was filled with exceptional artists from around the world and the U.S. who came here to perform and experience this unique festival.

“It was a privilege and honor to be invited to the prestigious Festival of Tabla to perform a small Tabla rendition. I am not at all a professional Tabla Player, I learned Tabla in tad bits 30-plus years ago from Pt. Nayan Ghosh and there was a Tabla silence for 23 years and a year and a half ago started learning again from his son Maestro Ishaan Ghosh. I worked very hard in the last few months to perform a Tabla solo in front of a great audience.  Actually, I am a hotelier. I love Tabla, it is my life, my passion, and my obsession. I am blessed to learn from great Maestros” said one of the performers, Bharat Maru.
