The American Association of Engineers of Indian Origin (AAEIO) played a proud host to a fundraising Golf event at St. Andrews Golf Course in West Chicago, for charity purposes.
As per AAEIO, it decided to host this unique event as a fundraiser for its Charity wing. It was the first such golf outing event for the association and its members, and it turned out to be a huge success while generating an enjoyable experience.
US Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, D-Illinois, a graduate of Princeton University Mechanical Engineering and Harvard Law, inaugurated the Charity wing of AAEIO, hailed as the 4th pillar of the organization. The other 3 pillars already in practice are Entrepreneurial Networking, Education, and Professional Opportunities for members. The purpose of the 4th pillar is to support, help, guide, and mentor engineering students.
President of AAEIO Gladson Varghese, Chairman of Charity wing Gulzar Singh, Co-Chairman Dr. Promod Vohra, and Treasurer Rajinder Bir Singh Mago were the main architects of the event supported by the Board and members.
“Funds were raised, and several engineers of Indian origin took life membership and also regular membership,” Varghese announced. The auction of sports memorabilia was another way to raise additional funds.
Rep. Krishnamoorthi gave away the awards to the winners of the golf tournament and lauded the AAEIO board for organizing the event.
It was a fun-filled day of golf with an eventful evening accompanied by dinner and entertainment. Madhura Sane, AAEIO Board member and singer made the evening unforgettable with Bollywood songs accompanied by dances.
The AAEIO is a non-profit organization to provide merit scholarships on cutting-edge technology for global issues like climate change, to help engineers of Indian origin in the US, and to leverage the group’s knowledge, expertise, and experience.
