Nachhattar Chandi, President and CEO of Chandi Group US, has been named as the new chairman of the Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF). He steps in place of the former chairman, Harold Matzner who had held this position since 2000.
Chandi has won several business and leadership awards including the large business of the year award, community champion award, top fuel volume award, American Dream award, and patriot award. He is also on the board of directors for Pepperdine University. “Chandi is a very successful and strong leader, and we are so lucky that he is interested in taking on this role with the festival,” Matzner said.
Chandi is overseeing the Palm Springs International Film Society and the upcoming PSIFF to be held between January 4-15 in 2024. An Indian American, he owns and operates over 30 businesses in the Coachella Valley and throughout California. “The festival is important to the Coachella Valley and the community, and I want to help carry on that legacy,” he said.
Chandi’s entrepreneurial journey in the US began in 1991, after migrating from India at the age of 20 years. In the beginning, he even worked at a gas station, and went on to establish the Chandi Group in 1997 and helmed its affairs since then. The group employs about 550 people and brings much-needed services to underserved communities in California.
