Marsha Bipin Amin selected as Superior Court Judge for San Diego County

Amin, the second Indian-origin woman appointed by the governor of California

Marsha Bipin Amin to serve as the new Superior Court Judge of San Diego County, the Governor of California, Gavin Newsom recently announced her appointment. With this elevation, Amin will be occupying the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Laura Halgren.

She is the second Indian-origin woman after Sweena Pannu, who was recently selected to the Stanislaus County Superior Court, to be appointed by the governor as a Judge.

Amin is a graduate and earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Diego (USD) School of Law, with a degree in Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California.

Amin, a Democrat, has worked as the managing attorney at the Fourth District Court of Appeal since 2018. From 2011 to 2018, she served as a senior appellate court attorney. Prior to that, she worked as an associate at Procopio and, was a Law Clerk at the Southern District of California Division of the U.S. District Court, from 2005 to 2006.
