Shobitam, a Seattle-based ethnic clothing brand, co-founded by Indian-American sisters Aparna and Ambika, have roped in popular and critically acclaimed actor Vidya Balan as their brand ambassador. Credited for reviving the saree on the red carpet and making it fashionable for a new generation, Balan has significantly aided social programmes that support the economic independence and quality of life of traditional handloom weavers, the brand said in a statement.
