What began as a group of small weekend appearances in New Jersey and New York during Women’s History month is now a cross-country tour to inspire members of the Indian community in the US. Hosted by MyDream, TV USA, a media and entertainment company that services the Indian community across the globe, will once again produce a multi-city tour featuring the 2021 Miss Universe, Harnaaz Sandhu.
Sandhu will be the guest of honor at a two-hour awards dinner event that will identify several exceptional young women and girls in that community to celebrate their achievement and excellences with partial proceeds from the evenings events benefiting the MyDream Global Foundation, a 501c Non-Profit Organization that lends itself to the awareness of Breast Cancer.
Sandhu will also have the chance to talk with small inspirational group of women leaders in each city on Women’s Health issues.
With the launch this past March of a coalition for menstrual equity and working alongside the Miss Universe Organization and a group of leaders in India, Harnaaz is dedicated to increasing access for safe menstrual care in India and around the world by increasing awareness of, and access to, low-cost, sustainable, and proven solutions that will improve the lives of women, girls, and their families.
Harnaaz Sandhu, who is currently in Manhattan, had a reunion with Andrea Meza, Miss Universe 2020. Harnaaz and Andrea celebrated the former Miss Universe’s first anniversary of winning the coveted crown. Their get together has gone viral on social media, with fans loving every moment. While Harnaaz chose a blush pink coordinated attire for the celebrations, Andrea opted for a boss lady look.
On Sunday, Harnaaz and Andrea took to their respective Instagram pages to post pictures from their reunion. The photos show the two beauty queens having a gala time at a restaurant in New York with their Miss Universe team. Harnaaz called Andrea ‘forever queen’ in her post. She wrote, “A beautiful day with these beautiful queens. Welcome back the forever queen.”
The first and last photo in Harnaaz’s post shows her posing with Andrea and embracing her in a warm embrace. The duo also posed with members of the Miss Universe Organization. Andrea’s post also showed the two stars in a candid moment, sharing a laugh and posing with the members.
Harnaaz styled her ensemble with a pink chained shoulder bag, rings, dainty gold earrings and strappy high heels. In the end, Harnaaz went for winged eyeliner, mascara on the lashes, open tresses, pink lip shade and a glowing face to give the final touches.
Actor and model Harnaaz Sandhu made history in December 2021 as she was crowned Miss Universe 2021 — beating contestants from 80 countries — 21 years after India last brought home the title. Only two Indians before Sandhu have won the title of Miss Universe – actors Sushmita Sen in 1994 and Lara Dutta in 2000
The 70th edition of the event was held in Eilat, Israel, where the 21-year-old bagged the coveted pageant. The Chandigarh-based model, who is pursuing her master’s degree in public administration, was crowned by her predecessor Andrea Meza of Mexico, who won the pageant in 2020. “I am immensely grateful to the Almighty, my parents, and the Miss India Organization for guiding and supporting me throughout. Loads of love to everyone who prayed and wished the crown for me,” Sandhu had said, after winning the crown.
“Bringing the glorious crown back after 21 years to India is a moment of greatest pride,” she had said.
During the final question and answer round, Sandhu was asked what advice would she give to young women on how to deal with the pressure they face today. “The biggest pressure the youth of today is facing is to believe in themselves, to know that you are unique and that’s what makes you beautiful. Stop comparing yourselves with others and let’s talk about more important things that’s happening worldwide. This is what you need to understand. Come out, speak for yourselves because you are the leader of your life, you are the voice of your own. I believed in myself and that’s why I am standing here today,” she had said to a thundering applause.
Now, with an inspirational tour across the US, the beauty queen is really turning her words into action.
