Monank Patel chosen as captain of USA men’s team in ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier

The USA Cricket men’s national selection panel has named Monank Patel to lead the United States of America (USA) in the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup (CWC) qualifier, planned to begin on June 18 in Zimbabwe. USA has been placed in Group A, along with West Indies, Zimbabwe, Netherlands, and Nepal to compete for a slot in Cricket World Cup being held in India.

Monank Patel, an Indian-origin American cricketer has been playing for the US since 2018. He is a right-handed top-class batsman and wicket-keeper, chosen to lead the team for his exceptional cricketing skills.

Patel started his international career in 2018 when he was picked for the US squad for the 2018–19 ICC World T20 Americas Qualifier tournament in Morrisville, North Carolina. He batted and scored brilliantly in this tournament, with 208 runs in six matches. He has numerous records to boost his ODI and T20 cricket performance. Patel is, also, the current captain of US national cricket team.

Other members of the team are Aaron Jones, as deputy to Patel, Abhishek Paradkar, Ali Khan, Gajanand Singh, Jasdeep Singh, Kyle Philip, Nisarg Patel, Nostush Kenjige, Saiteja Mukkamalla, Saurabh Netravalkar, Shayan Jahangir, Steven Taylor, Sushant Modani and Usman Rafiq for the ICC Qualifier.
