Sujit Singh was honored during a recent spiritual gathering at the Hindu American Temple and Cultural Center (HATCC), also known as the Sri Guruvaayoorappan Temple and widely recognized as the Shri Krishna Temple. Established in 1988, the nonprofit temple serves as a spiritual and cultural hub for communities across New Jersey.
Singh was recognized for more than a decade of community service supporting over 600 New Jersey residents with disabilities and their families. His work has focused on improving quality of life, advancing inclusion, and strengthening support for caregivers.
A highlight of the evening was receiving blessings from Dharmatma Dr. S. Yegnasubramanian, a former Bhabha Atomic Research Centre and Bell Labs scientist known for his scholarly contributions and deep knowledge of the Vedas and Puranas. Singh expressed gratitude for the opportunity and said he was inspired by Dr. Yegnasubramanian’s lifelong dedication to both scientific advancement and community service.
“Our community work reflects compassion, resilience, and shared responsibility,” Singh said. “Supporting families and individuals with disabilities is essential to building an inclusive and caring society.”
The program also featured a devotional performance by renowned bhajan singer Anup Jalota, whose music uplifted attendees.
Singh expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing dignity, inclusion, and quality of life for individuals and families across New Jersey.
