This Wednesday, on September 17th, the three-day Combined Commanders’ Conference (CCC) concluded in Kolkata. The conference has built up a plan to take the Indian armed forces and transform them into a more integrated, technologically advanced and operationally agile force that will be fully capable of dealing with multi-domain threats, safeguarding national interests and contributing to nation-building.
It was reported that during the CCC there was a new joint military space doctrine that was released as well. It is being looked upon as “a key milestone” that will institutionalise this domain as a part of national security strategy.
The committee has also taken a huge decision on the education front as they have decided to merge the education branches of Army, Navy and Air Force in order to form a single tri-Service Educations Corps. They will also be setting up ‘joint’ military stations to ensure that there is integration and synergy among all three branches of the armed forces.
As per the directives given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan stated that the armed forces to construct a plan in timely manner but at the same time they should not stop working to transform themselves in order to remain “agile, self-reliant and future-ready.”
The CCC also discussed the significance of adopting a technology-led approach to modern warfare. With emerging threats from neighbours like Pakistan and China lurking around, India would need defensive prowess that is adapting perfectly to the technology growing around and moving along with the world.
