A video has gone viral on the internet, in which the Jaish-e-Mohamad (JeM) commander Masood Ilyas Kashmiri can be seen at an event. In the video Kashmiri can be heard admitting that the family of Masood Azhar, the terror group’s top commander, was “torn into pieces” in the air strikes by the Indian Air Force on Bahawalpur under India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’.

The JeM commander Masood Kashmiri, who was surrounded by several gun-wielding security personnel in the background, can be heard explaining how the Indian armed forces entered their hideout in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and attacked them on May 7th

“Embracing terrorism, we fought Delhi, Kabul and Kandahar for protecting the borders of this country. After sacrificing everything, on May 7, Maulana Masood Azhar’s family was torn apart by Indian forces in Bahawalpur,” Masoos Kashmiri said, addressing the event in Urdu.

At the same event, Masood Kashmiri also bragged about how the terror groups have the support of the Pakistan Army and its Chief Asim Munir stating that the army had sent generals to the funerals of the terrorists who were killed in the attack. This verified the reports that claimed that several top Pakistani military and civil officials attended the funerals of designated terrorists killed by the armed forces of India in air strikes under Operation Sindoor.

India had carried out Operation Sindoor in retaliation to the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam where 26 civilians were brutally murdered. Under the operation, India conducted overnight strikes on nine terrorist facilities inside Pakistan and PoK, where terrorist camps of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) were located. Among the sites targeted was Bahawalpur, Pakistan’s 12th largest city, as it is the nerve centre of JeM. It houses JeM’s operational headquarters at the Jamia Masjid Subhan Allah, also known as the Usman-o-Ali campus.
