Talks about MS Dhoni’s retirement and future have been surging high for a few years now. Every season of the Indian Premier League that the former Indian captain has played in the past three years there have been talks about it being his last season. As the discussion has intensified this year a former Indian player has commented on Dhoni’s future.

Joginder Sharma, the hero of India’s triumph in the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup Finals, has spoken on MS Dhoni’s retirement and has said that the Indian icon should take rest now. Joginder spoke about how Dhoni can just play to prove his fitness but according to him it is time for him to hang up his boots.

“Considering Mahi’s fitness level, he should play up to prove his fitness, but I believe it is time for him to rest,” Joginder said.

In a recent match against the Kolkata Knight Riders, Dhoni was asked about his future going forward in the league. While speaking in the presentation ceremony, MS spoke about how he hasn’t decided on his career yet. He will work hard for the next six to eight months and then if his body allows he might play further.

“After this IPL gets over, I have to work hard for another six to eight months to see if my body can take this pressure. Nothing to decide now, but the love and affection I have seen is excellent,” Dhoni said in the post-match interview.

Thala, as he is endearingly called by his fans, became the captain of the Chennai Super Kings after Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out of the tournament with an elbow injury. The CSK fan base although haven’t had the season they desired but seeing their favorite Captain Cool dawning the captain’s hat once again and probably for the last time in his career has made them glimmer a bit.
