The Texas A&M University has announced the name of Dr. Narasimha Reddy, a professor in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering for the Regents Professor award. This is the highest honor a faculty member can receive in the Texas A&M University System.
Established in 1996, the Regents Professor Awards recognize employees within the Texas A&M University System who have made preeminent contributions to their university or agency and Texas communities.
Dr. Narasimha Reddy is part of the five faculty members from the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University who have been selected for this prestigious award. The Texas A&M University System includes a statewide network of 11 universities, a comprehensive health science center, eight state agencies, Texas A&M-Fort Worth and Texas A&M-RELLIS.
“These faculty exemplify the incredible talent in the College of Engineering,” said Dr. Robert Bishop, dean of the Texas A&M College of Engineering. The proud recipient, Dr. Narasimha Reddy, is a professor in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering. Reddy is also the Truchard Foundation Chair Professor.
Dr. Reddy’s educational background includes Ph.D, Computer Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign – 1990; M.S., Computer Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign – 1987 and B.Tech., Electronics and Electrical Communications Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology – 1985.
His research interests include Computer Networks, Storage Systems, Multimedia systems and Computer Architecture
Dr. Reddy has won numerous awards and has been honored as IEEE Fellow; NSF Career Award, 1996-2000; IBM Technical Achievement Award, 1995; Texas A&M Faculty Fellow 1999, Ford Fellow 2004; Outstanding Professor, IEEE Student branch, Texas A & M, 1997-98; Outstanding Professor, Dept. of Elec. Engg., 2003 and Presidential Silver Medal, Indian Inst. of Tech., 1985.
He will join an esteemed group, becoming part of the 323 Texas A&M System faculty recognized with the Regents Professor Award throughout its history.
