The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 has kicked off in UAE, featuring ten teams competing across Sharjah and Dubai from October 3 to 20. This ninth edition promises an exhilarating showcase of talent, with 23 matches set to determine the world champion.

The tournament opened with Bangladesh facing debutants Scotland in Sharjah, followed by a match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Defending champions Australia, aiming for their fourth consecutive title, begin their campaign on October 5 against Sri Lanka.

India started its journey against New Zealand on October 4, with a highly anticipated clash against Australia scheduled for October 13. Venues include the historic Sharjah Cricket Stadium and the modern Dubai International Stadium, each presenting unique challenges.

England’s Freya Kemp noted that adapting to these conditions will be crucial for success. The tournament format allows the top two teams from each group to advance to the semi-finals on October 17 and 18, leading to the final on October 20.

Fans are eager to witness thrilling matchups, including South Africa’s clash with England on October 7 and India’s rivalry with Pakistan on October 6. With affordable tickets and free entry for those under 18, the event aims to inspire a new generation of cricket enthusiasts.

As excitement builds, ICC hopes this tournament will elevate women’s cricket and foster greater support for female sports persons globally.
