The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced that the Telangana Assembly polls are scheduled to be held on November 30. The counting of votes will be done on December 3, the poll body added. Telangana is set to witness a triangular contest between the BJP, the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi, and the Congress in the upcoming assembly election.
YSR Telangana Party chief YS Sharmila on Thursday announced that her party would contest in all 119 Assembly constituencies, in the coming elections. Making a huge announcement amid the deafening roar of the supporters, at the party office, YS Sharmila made it clear that the party is primarily dedicated to the cause of the people and committed to bring back YSR’s “golden rule”.
On the occasion, she also announced that she would contest from Palair as promised earlier. “If needed, my mother, Vijayamma too will contest for the people of Telangana”, Sharmila said.
On the speculations of a possible merger of YSRTP and Congress, Reddy said, “My noble intention to take the step towards merger with Congress was to ensure the anti establishment vote was not divided. The autocratic rule doesn’t deserve another term”
It is worth mentioning that the YSRTP was founded in 2021 by YS Sharmila Reddy, daughter of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy. However, at present, the party has no seats in either Lok Sabha or Vidhan Sabha.
Sharmila is serving the party as its president.
In the previous Assembly election held in 2018, BRS managed to win 88 seats out of 119 and had a dominant vote share of 47.4 percent. Congress came in a distant second with 19 seats. Its vote share was 28.7 percent.
Meanwhile, BJP OBC Morcha National President and Rajya Sabha MP K Laxman slammed Telangana Chief Minister’s son KTR on Wednesday for his comments against Home Minister Amit Shah and said that people in Telangana want a change.
Speaking to ANI BJP leader K Laxman said, “KTR is nervous as Narendra Modi and Amit Shah are coming to Telangana. What is KTR, apart from being the CM’s son? Their affidavit before the 2014 elections should be checked. He cannot become a big leader by criticising big leaders. There is no bigger corruption anywhere in the country than Telangana. The people want a change. Although you criticize Congress, the people have realised that you are the B-team of Kharge in Delhi and here Congress is your B-team.”
Hitting out at Congress, he said that PM Modi with Garib Kalyan Yojana has helped many poor whereas they have thrown out the poor with ‘Garibi Hatao’.
He added, “The people want a change from the 3 parties comprising of BRS, Congress and AIMIM. BJP is the change.”
But referring to HM Amit Shah KTR on Tuesday said that misleading people won’t work in the poll-bound state and that this time more than 110 of Bharatiya Janata Party’s candidates will lose their deposits in the November 30 polls. This comes after Amit Shah while addressing ‘Jana Garjana Sabha’ in Telangana’s Adilabad came down heavily on the KCR government. Shah said that KCR’s goal is to make his son KTR the Chief Minister of the state.
Reacting to Telangana IT Minister KTR’s “BJP will lose deposit in state polls” remark, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP and Telangana’s election incharge for the BJP, Prakash Javadekar on Wednesday said that the dates the Election Commission has released, are the dates when the fate of Telangana will change and the BJP will be emerge victorious in the state elections.
“Why did KTR leave out the nine seats (as there are a total of 119 seats in Telangana Legislative Assembly)? The dates the Election Commission has released are the dates when the fate of Telangana will change. BJP will win in Telangana this time”, Javadekar said.
