Four Indian American businesswomen namely Jayshree Ullal, Neerja Sethi, Neha Narkhede, and Indra Nooyi have been featured in Forbes’ 2023 list of America’s 100 most successful women. Jayshree Ullal, 62 is the most successful Indian American woman at 15th rank, is the CEO and president of Arista Networks with a wealth of $2.2 billion. The overall list is topped by Diane Hendricks,76, of ABC Supply with a wealth of $15 billion.
The most successful Indian American women who have been featured on the list include ranked 15, Jayshree Ullal, 62, CEO and president, of Arista Networks, has a wealth of $2.2 billion, a resident of Saratoga, CA. She is a Cisco veteran and a Silicon Valley engineer who joined the computer networking company Arista Networks as CEO in 2008 with negligible business. She runs now a publicly traded company, with $4.4 billion in revenue in 2022, 48% higher than the last year, despite component shortages and challenges in the supply chain. Arista is planning to launch a new suite of AI-based network services soon.
Neerja Sethi, 68, is ranked 25 with a wealth of $990 million and is a resident of Fisher Island, FL. Sethi and her husband, Bharat Desai, have previously worked in the IT firm Tata Consultancy Services and launched their IT services firm Syntel from their Troy, Michigan, apartment in 1980. In 2018, Syntel was sold to French IT firm Atos SE for $3.4 billion.
Neha Narkhede, 38, the co-founder of Oscilar is ranked 50 with a wealth of $520 million and stays in Palo Alto, CA. She is a software engineer-turned-entrepreneur who developed her new company, a fraud detection firm Oscilar, with her husband in 2021 from $20 million in funding. She was previously the co-founder and former chief technology officer of data-streaming software firm Confluent, which had gone public in 2021 at a huge valuation of $9.1 billion.
Indra Nooyi, 67, former CEO of PepsiCo needs no introduction, and she is ranked 77 now with a wealth of $350 million, is a resident of Greenwich, CT. She has the proud heritage of being the first woman of color and immigrant, to run one of America’s iconic and 50 largest companies. She retired as PepsiCo’s CEO in 2018 and as chair in 2019 after a successful stint. Currently, she is a director of Amazon and health tech firm Philips, Nooyi joined the scandal-hit Global Advisory Board of Deutsche Bank last November.
