Indian American Impact proudly congratulates Dr. Amish Shah on his victory in the general election for Arizona’s 1st Congressional District, where he defeated Republican Jay Feely and flipped a Republican-held seat.
Impact marshaled and invested over $355,000 in the race, one of the most competitive House contests in the country. Shah will become the first Indian American to represent Arizona in Congress.
Chintan Patel, Executive Director of Indian American Impact, shared the following statement:
“Amish Shah earned this seat one conversation at a time. He knocked on more than 28,000 doors and talked with voters across this district about what they’re facing: health care they can’t afford and costs that keep climbing. As an emergency room doctor, he has seen firsthand what unaffordable care does to families, and he ran to lower those costs.
Arizona’s 1st District was one of the DCCC’s Red to Blue seats and a top flip opportunity for Democrats, and Amish just turned it blue. Indian American Impact has been proud to support him from the beginning, and we congratulate him on his victory.”
Since its inception in 2016, Indian American Impact has endorsed and supported 200+ candidates across the country, contributing to the historic rise of Indian and South Asian American representation in politics. Through strategic investments and grassroots organizing, Impact has marshaled upwards of $20 million to candidates and robust voter mobilization and policy advocacy efforts, amplifying the voices of South Asian Americans and driving positive change in communities nationwide.
