Indian American Impact proudly congratulates Pia Dandiya on her victory in the general election for Florida’s 22nd Congressional District, where she defeated Republican Casey Askar in a newly drawn, open seat that Donald Trump carried by 10.5 points in 2024.
Impact marshaled and invested over $110,000 in the race, one of the most competitive House contests in the country. Dandiya will become the first Indian American to represent Florida in Congress.
Chintan Patel, Executive Director of Indian American Impact, shared the following statement:
“Pia Dandiya got into this race for her students, her son, and every kid growing up in this district who deserves a better future. A former teacher and school principal, she ran on lowering costs for families, universal Pre-K, and banning stock trading in Congress.
Florida’s 22nd District was one of the most competitive districts for Democrats, and Pia just turned it blue. Indian American Impact has been proud to support her from the beginning, and we congratulate her on her victory tonight.”
Since its inception in 2016, Indian American Impact has endorsed and supported 200+ candidates across the country, contributing to the historic rise of Indian and South Asian American representation in politics. Through strategic investments and grassroots organizing, Impact has marshaled upwards of $20 million to candidates and robust voter mobilization and policy advocacy efforts, amplifying the voices of South Asian Americans and driving positive change in communities nationwide.
