Janmashtami Shobha Yatra Celebrates Lord Krishna’s Birthday in Flushing

The Hindu Center Inc. of Flushing, New York, organized a grand Janmashtami Shobha Yatra on September 4, 2026, to celebrate the 5,343rd birthday of Lord Krishna.

The procession began at the Hindu Center in Flushing and proceeded through Main Street and Kissena Boulevard, passing through the bustling and densely populated business district before returning to the Hindu Center on Kissena Boulevard.

The Shobha Yatra featured colorful floats, dancers and marchers, creating a festive atmosphere as devotees and community members gathered to celebrate Janmashtami, the Hindu festival commemorating the birth of Lord Krishna.

Acharya Dewang Dwivedi Ji and Pandit Pratap Krishna Ji were the chief guests of the event. Their participation added a spiritual and ceremonial dimension to the celebration.

During the procession, the Yatra made a stop at Dr. Hari Shukla’s office on Kissena Boulevard, where volunteers were prepared to welcome and serve the marchers. The gathering provided an opportunity for participants to take a brief break and receive refreshments before continuing the procession.

The event brought together members of the Hindu community in Flushing to celebrate Lord Krishna’s birthday and showcase religious devotion, cultural traditions and community spirit.
