India is set to showcase its clean energy initiatives and sustainability efforts at the upcoming BRICS Energy Ministers’ Meeting, as the country seeks to strengthen global cooperation on energy security, innovation and the transition towards cleaner sources of power. The meeting will be hosted by India under its BRICS Chairship 2026, with energy expected to remain a key area of discussion among member nations.

The government is expected to highlight India’s progress in renewable energy expansion, clean technology development and efforts to ensure affordable energy access for developing countries. The focus will be on presenting India’s approach of balancing economic growth with sustainability while advocating cooperation among BRICS nations on future energy solutions.

The BRICS Energy Ministers’ Meeting is scheduled to take place in Gurugram, Haryana, where representatives from member countries will discuss energy security, sustainable development and technological collaboration. India’s theme for its BRICS Chairship, “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”, places energy transition and inclusive growth among its major priorities.

Officials are expected to present India’s achievements in renewable energy capacity growth, including expansion in solar and other non-fossil fuel sectors. The country has been pushing for greater international partnerships in clean energy manufacturing, green technologies and reducing dependence on conventional energy sources.

The energy meet will also provide India an opportunity to position itself as a leading voice of the Global South on climate and energy issues. Earlier BRICS energy discussions have emphasised universal electricity access, cleaner energy transitions and cooperation to address energy challenges faced by developing economies.

Experts believe the platform could help BRICS countries explore joint initiatives in renewable energy, energy efficiency and emerging technologies. With energy security becoming increasingly important amid global economic and environmental challenges, India aims to use its chairship to promote a collaborative approach that supports both development and sustainability.

The clean energy showcase comes as India continues to expand its role in international climate diplomacy while seeking partnerships that support its long-term energy goals and economic ambitions.
