From the shores of Chennai to the heart of Texas, the roar of the Super Kings is now echoing across America.

When Major League Cricket was launched in the United States, several franchises arrived with ambition. The Texas Super Kings arrived with something more valuable identity. Backed by the Chennai Super Kings’ ownership group and carrying the familiar yellow colours, lion emblem and winning culture, the Texas Super Kings quickly became one of the league’s most recognizable teams. More than just a franchise, they became an extension of the CSK legacy, bringing a proven cricket model to a rapidly growing American market.

The connection with Chennai is impossible to miss. From ownership links through India Cements to the presence of head coach Stephen Fleming, the Texas Super Kings have embraced the same philosophy that made CSK one of the most successful teams in franchise cricket. The appointment of Faf du Plessis as captain further strengthened that bond. Alongside former CSK stars such as Dwayne Bravo, Devon Conway, Mitchell Santner and Ambati Rayudu in the early years, the franchise built a familiar foundation while introducing American fans to elite T20 cricket.

Their home, the Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas, has become a symbol of cricket’s growth in the United States. Transformed from a former baseball venue into a dedicated cricket stadium, it hosted the inaugural MLC season in 2023 and has since become a gathering point for fans across the country. Packed crowds, modern facilities and high-profile matches have turned the venue into a showcase for the sport’s expanding footprint in North America.

On the field, Texas Super Kings have been a model of consistency. Since joining the league in 2023, they have qualified for the playoffs every season. While the elusive championship has remained out of reach, the franchise has established itself as one of MLC’s strongest teams. A second-place finish in their inaugural season was followed by another playoff run in 2024, before a seven-win campaign in 2025 reinforced their reputation as perennial contenders. Few teams have matched their ability to remain competitive year after year.

Much of that success has been built around the leadership of Faf du Plessis. The South African veteran has been the face of the franchise, leading both with the bat and in the field. Around him, players such as Mitchell Santner, Daniel Sams and Akeal Hosein have provided balance and experience. For 2026, Texas Super Kings have doubled down on continuity while adding fresh firepower. The arrivals of Rilee Rossouw, Wiaan Mulder, Nandre Burger, Hardus Viljoen and Keshav Maharaj have strengthened an already experienced squad, while domestic talents like Smit Patel, Saiteja Mukkamalla and Shubham Ranjane continue to form an important local core.

The franchise’s ambitions, however, extend beyond wins and losses. Texas Super Kings are also expanding their footprint beyond Texas. On June 25, the franchise will bring its fan engagement drive to the Bay Area through a special Fanfest hosted by Radio Zindagi in Sunnyvale. Featuring players like Faf Duplessis, coaches, fan interactions, autographs, live interviews and giveaways, the event reflects TSK’s ambition to grow Major League Cricket’s presence and build a strong West Coast supporter base. They are not merely chasing a trophy; they are helping shape the future of the sport in a new market. With an experienced squad, a proven coaching setup and a loyal fan base, the ingredients for a title-winning season are firmly in place.

The Texas Super Kings will start their MLC 2026 tournament on Jun 18 at the Grand Prairie Stadium against the Seattle Orcas. The Super Kings may wear Texas on their jersey, but their greatest victory could be turning America’s cricket dream into reality.
