As part of its ongoing commitment to community health and wellness, the American Punjabi Society (APS) regularly organizes health awareness initiatives, including educational lectures on important health topics, blood donation drives, cancer awareness walks, health screenings, and other programs designed to promote healthier lifestyles and preventive healthcare.

Continuing this tradition, APS successfully organized an enlightening Health & Wellness Seminar on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at 9:00 AM at Mint Restaurant, Long Island. The event attracted more than 150 attendees, including physicians, healthcare professionals, community leaders, business professionals, and members of the Indian-American community.

The keynote speaker, Dr. Tarun Wasil, renowned oncologist, hematologist, and author of A Healthy Triad, delivered a compelling presentation on the importance of preventive healthcare through what he described as the three pillars of wellness: Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Stress Management.

Dr. Wasil explained how these three interconnected factors significantly influence overall health and play a vital role in the prevention of chronic diseases, including cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and other lifestyle-related illnesses. His presentation emphasized that while medical advances continue to improve treatment outcomes, prevention through healthy living remains the most powerful tool for achieving long-term health and well-being.

A special highlight of the seminar was the official launch of Dr. Wasil’s acclaimed book, A Healthy Triad, which highlights the vital role of Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Stress Management in preventing chronic diseases and achieving overall wellness. Attendees had the opportunity to learn more about the principles outlined in the book and their practical application in everyday life.

Dr. Wasil also shared valuable insights on the prevention of chronic diseases and cancer through a holistic approach to health, emphasizing the interconnected roles of nutrition, physical activity, stress management, and preventive care. His practical recommendations and evidence-based guidance inspired attendees to adopt healthier habits and take a proactive approach toward their overall well-being.

A special highlight of the event was the launch of GO Alkaline Water, introduced by APS President Gary S. Sikka.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sikka shared his vision of promoting healthier lifestyles within the community and noted that GO Alkaline Water is only the beginning. He announced plans to introduce additional green, organic, and health-oriented products in the near future as part of a broader effort to encourage wellness, nutrition, and preventive healthcare among community members.

Reflecting the seminar’s theme of healthy living, attendees were served a specially curated nutritious breakfast featuring moong dal sprouts, dalia prepared with oat milk, a wholesome chia seed dessert, and other healthy food options. The menu was thoughtfully designed to demonstrate that nutritious eating can be both delicious and practical, reinforcing the key messages shared during Dr. Wasil’s presentation.
