David Dhawan’s family entertainer ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ registered a healthy jump at the box office on its second day, benefiting from strong weekend footfalls and improved occupancy across key markets. The film, headlined by Varun Dhawan alongside Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur, moved steadily towards the ₹10 crore milestone as Saturday audiences turned out in encouraging numbers.

After opening to a respectable start on Friday, the romantic comedy witnessed a noticeable rise in collections on Day 2, with multiplexes and several single-screen centres reporting stronger attendance through afternoon and evening shows. Trade observers attribute the growth to the film’s broad family appeal and positive word-of-mouth among weekend moviegoers.

The Saturday performance has helped the film consolidate its position among the week’s new releases. Industry trackers estimate that the film’s two-day cumulative collection has crossed ₹10 crore, providing the makers with a solid platform heading into the crucial Sunday business. The upward trajectory also reflects the advantage of the weekend holiday period, traditionally a key revenue driver for mainstream Hindi entertainers.

Directed by veteran filmmaker David Dhawan, the film marks another collaboration between the filmmaker and his son Varun Dhawan. The nostalgic comedy-drama has been marketed as a light-hearted family entertainer, a positioning that appears to be resonating with audiences seeking a theatrical outing.

Saturday’s growth indicates sustained audience interest. Exhibitors in major circuits reported increased show occupancy, particularly during evening screenings, suggesting that the film is finding traction beyond its opening-day audience.

With positive weekend momentum on its side, ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ has delivered an encouraging early box-office performance and remains on course to post a respectable opening weekend haul.

Backed by producer Ramesh Taurani, ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ released in theatres on June 5 and marks another collaboration between Varun Dhawan and director David Dhawan.
