Director David Dhawan’s romantic comedy ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ continued its impressive run at the box office on Saturday, registering growth on its second day and cementing its position among the highest-grossing romantic films of the year.
Starring Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde, the film collected an estimated ₹9.10 crore net on its second day in theatres, marking a 5 percent increase over its opening-day earnings. The film had debuted with ₹8.65 crore on Friday, taking its two-day domestic total to ₹17.75 crore net. According to trade figures, the film’s gross collection in India now stands at approximately ₹20.94 crore.
The strong performance comes despite competition from several other titles currently in theatres. Industry observers attribute the steady momentum to positive audience response and growing word-of-mouth publicity.
With its latest earnings, ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ has become the third-highest-grossing romantic Bollywood release of 2026 within just 48 hours of release.
Trade analysts expect the film to post a strong opening weekend if the current trend continues.
The film’s encouraging early performance provides another commercial success for David Dhawan’s trademark blend of romance and comedy, while further strengthening Varun Dhawan’s box-office presence in the genre.
Backed by producer Ramesh Taurani, ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ released in theatres on June 5 and marks another collaboration between Varun Dhawan and director David Dhawan.
